Before Running the Setup Script to Upgrade to a New Version of Kayako Classic The Diagnostics Tool Shows a Number of Database Differences

Overview

You have installed the files required to upgrade to a New Version of Kayako Classic as described in the Upgrading or Downgrading Your Kayako Classic Download Helpdesk article. Before running the Setup Script, you run the Diagnostics Tool and see a list of database differences like shown below and would like to know if this is expected:

Solution

When you upgrade from one version of Kayako Classic to another, it is possible that database schema changes will be applied to fix issues or for new features.  The Diagnostic tool on the Kayako Classic install screen will compare the current database schema to the database schema of the new version and report any differences found.

Please run the setup script as described in the Upgrading or Downgrading Your Kayako Classic Download Helpdesk article to have the required database schema changes for the new version of Kayako Classic applied to your database.  Once the upgrade is complete, if you see the following SQL commands in the Diagnostics tool output:

You can run both of these SQL statements on your database to resolve the remaining schema mismatches reported by the Diagnostics tool.  If you encounter an Integer display width is deprecated and will be removed in a future release warning when running the SQL statement for the swcalls table, you can safely ignore this warning.
